The new international center of excellence dedicated to progress and well-being is set to become a new metropolitan hub. Located within the former EXPO 2015 site, MIND is the largest urban regeneration project in Italy, conceived to address today’s ecological and social challenges. This initiative focuses on the redevelopment of the western area of MIND, known as the West Gate. It marks the first development district within MIND, subdivided into office, residential, commercial, hospitality, and infrastructure lots, along with related public spaces.
EOS has been appointed for overall and specialized construction management, sustainability consultancy, and support to the project and construction management team. Services include the review of executive and construction-level design for lots 4.4.1 and 4.4.2, named Horizon and Zenit, which are designated for mixed use.
The project aims to achieve the highest environmental certifications: WELL Gold, LEED Platinum, and WiredScore, reflecting a strong focus on energy efficiency and decarbonization. The building will feature prefabricated timber structures, starting from the second floor, and timber-concrete composite floors supplied by Wood Beton. This system optimizes construction time and reduces CO₂ emissions. ABB Electrification, one of ABB's business areas, will relocate to the Horizon building to enhance the experience of clients, partners, and employees in a highly innovative setting. MIND is envisioned as a globally relevant district where scientific and industrial research, businesses, academic institutions, incubators, and public interest organizations coexist—fostering knowledge-sharing and growth opportunities for all stakeholders within its ecosystem.
